POST LISTS AND POST PAGES ON EVERY SITE TYPE
Blog & Posts
Vendix Theme shows post lists as a list, grid, classic or overlay layout on every site type, with card items you turn on or off. Post pages can place the title above, below or over the featured image and add a reading column, a reading progress bar, related posts and an author box.
Post Lists
Present the blog in the layout that fits the site.
Customizer → Vendix → Blog sets how the posts page, categories, tags, authors and dates list their posts:
| Option | Choices |
|---|---|
| Post list layout | List, grid, classic or overlay |
| Columns (grid and overlay) | Automatic, as many as fit, or 2 to 4; one on phones, two at most on tablets |
| First post | Large or the same size as the others |
| Image ratio of the cards | 16:9, 16:10, 3:2, 4:3 or 1:1 |
Search results stay a list on every site type. Author archives can show the author's picture and biography in the title area.
Post Cards
Show only the details readers need.
Each item of the post cards can be turned on or off: the featured image, the category, the author, the date, the reading time and the excerpt, with its length in words. A long link in an excerpt no longer makes the list wider than a phone screen, and a post without a title shows "(no title)" so its link always has text.
Post Head
Open each post the way the story needs.
Customizer → Vendix → Posts sets the head of posts:
- Title place: above, below or over the featured image.
- Image width: as wide as the content column, the container or the window.
- Title area: above the sidebar, centered, and with a band behind posts without an image.
- Category above the title and the standfirst (the excerpt) under it.
- Updated date and the caption of the featured image.
The place of the title and the featured image can also be set for one post in its Page Layout options. Under a transparent header, the text of the post head starts below the header.
Reading Options
Make long posts comfortable to read.
- Reading column: a narrow reading width on pages without a sidebar.
- Large first letter: a drop cap at the start of the text (not in Arabic, Persian and Urdu text).
- Reading time of posts.
- Reading progress bar: drawn with CSS only, at the top of the window.
- Sticky sidebar: the blog sidebar stays in view, below the admin bar and a sticky header.
The blog sidebar can sit at the start, at the end or be turned off.
After the Post
Lead readers to the next thing to read.
- Related posts under the post, with the number of posts you choose.
- Previous and next post links.
- Author box with the author's picture, name and biography.
The standfirst, the updated date, related posts and the reading progress bar are on by default on news sites and off on the other types. With the Vendix plugin, posts can also get share buttons, a review box and a sponsored label through its Post Features.
