ARN Smart

BANNERS, ANNOUNCEMENTS AND AD SPACES WITH ONE SET OF RULES

Banners

Vendix Banners is an optional Pro module for WordPress that shows image banners, announcement cards, ad code and Elementor templates in zones. A zone sets the size per device, the format and the rotation; banners can be scheduled, limited by display rules and devices, and counted by daily views and clicks.

Banners is off by default. Turn it on in Vendix → Smart Features → Banners, then create banners and zones under Vendix → Banners. While the module is off, nothing of it loads: zones, the ARN Banner widget and the [arn_banner] shortcode print nothing, so pages that use them do not show the shortcode text.

Zones & Formats

Reserve the right space on every screen before a banner loads.

A zone is a named place with a shortcode name, a format, a size and a list of banners. Vendix offers four formats:

In the page. The zone sits in the content at a width (px, %, em, rem or vw) and an aspect ratio such as 728:90 or 16:9, or a fixed height, set separately for desktop, tablet and phone. The space stays free before the image or ad loads, so the page does not jump. An empty device takes the value of the next larger device.

Pop-up. A box in the middle of the screen or a full-screen layer. Focus stays inside while it is open, Escape closes it and focus returns to where it was.

Slide-in or half page. A corner box or a half-page panel on the start or end side, or a half page at the bottom.

Sticky bar. A bar fixed to the top or the bottom of the screen.

Pop-ups, slide-ins and bars have a close button and open after a delay you set, from 0 to 600 seconds. Choose how often they appear: on every page view, once per browser session or once every N days.

When a zone holds more than one banner, it rotates them:

  • Random: one banner per page view.
  • Random by weight: each banner gets a weight from 1 to 100.
  • In turn: the next banner on each page view.
  • Slider: all banners one after another, 2 to 60 seconds each, with previous, pause and next buttons. With reduced motion, the slider starts paused.

Images in a fixed space can fill it, with edges cut where needed, or show whole. A zone near the top of the page can load its images at once instead of lazily.

"How often" is remembered in the visitor's browser. When the browser blocks that storage, for example in some private windows, the zone shows every time.

Placement

Put a zone where it belongs without editing theme files.

The same zone looks the same wherever it is placed, because size, rotation, timing and rules come from the zone and its banners. Choose one or more ways:

  • Shortcode: [arn_banner zone="…"] shows a zone and [arn_banner id="…"] shows one banner. Changing a zone's shortcode name removes it from pages that still use the old name.
  • ARN Banner widget: an Elementor widget that shows a zone or one banner. In the editor every banner of the zone shows in place, whatever its rules and time; pop-ups and bars show in place too, and ad code as a placeholder.
  • Header & Footer element: the "Banner zone" element of the Vendix Header & Footer Builder.
  • Automatic places: before or after the post content, after paragraph number N, in post lists after every N posts, or over the page by itself for pop-ups, slide-ins and bars.
  • Vendix Theme places: above the header, beside the logo, under the header and above the footer, plus before and after the post text with the News site type.
  • News Blocks: with the Newspaper module, a zone after every N items in the grid and simple list layouts.
  • Custom slots: a zone that lists a slot name prints wherever a theme or plugin calls do_action( 'arnvx_banner_slot', 'slot-name' ).

Places in content work on single posts and pages. The paragraph place skips pages built with Elementor, and a text with fewer paragraphs does not show that zone. The post-list place works in classic themes; block themes build their lists in a way that printed markup cannot join.

Rules & Scheduling

Show each banner only where, when and to whom it fits.

Zones and banners both have their own rules, and a banner shows only where both allow it.

  • Display rules: "Show on" (empty means every page) and "Do not show on". The choices are those of the Header & Footer Builder: entire site, front page, blog page, search results, 404 page, single and archive views of a content type, a chosen page, a category or tag, and the WooCommerce shop, product, cart, checkout and account pages. A matching "Do not show on" rule always wins.
  • Devices: desktop, tablet and phone.
  • Logged-in visitors: hide the zone or banner from logged-in users.
  • Start and end time: each banner can have a start and an end in the site time zone, also on pages served from a full-page cache.

Visitor requests read one saved summary of the published zones and banners, built when they are saved, and the module writes nothing while visitors browse.

Shared corners and plain checkout. New A bottom banner bar, Floating Contact, the sticky add to cart bar, the store status message and the back to top button share the bottom corner without covering each other, on left-to-right and right-to-left pages. On a plain checkout of Vendix Theme, banners of broad rules stay out; banners set for WooCommerce Checkout or the checkout page still show.

Statistics

See which banners are seen and clicked.

Each banner counts its views and clicks per day. The banner list shows views, clicks and the click rate of the last 30 days, and Vendix → Banners → Statistics shows the totals of a date range you choose.

  • Views: a view counts when at least half of the banner is on screen, once per page view.
  • Clicks: a click on the banner's link counts once per page view.
  • Cached pages: the views and clicks of a page are sent together in one small request when the visitor leaves it, so cached pages are counted too.
  • Who is counted: search engine bots are not counted, and by default neither are users who can manage banners.
  • Keeping time: daily statistics are kept for 365 days by default, adjustable from 30 to 1,825 days; older days are removed in the background.

Counting can be turned off in Vendix → Smart Features → Banners. Clicks inside ad code cannot be counted, because they happen in the ad network's own frame; use the ad network's reports for those.

A Practical Banner Setup

  1. Turn on Banners in Vendix → Smart Features → Banners.
  2. Create a zone, choose its format and set its size for desktop, tablet and phone.
  3. Add a banner, choose its type and select the zone under "Show in zones".
  4. Place the zone with its shortcode, the ARN Banner widget, a Header & Footer element or an automatic place.
  5. Set display rules, devices and a start or end time, then check the page on each screen size.
  6. Review views and clicks in Statistics after a few days.

Questions About Banners

Can I place Google AdSense code in a banner?

Yes. Paste the ad network's code into an Ad code banner; it starts only when that banner is shown. Scripts are kept only when the account saving the banner may post unfiltered HTML, and clicks inside the ad frame are counted by the ad network, not by Vendix.

Will a banner make the page jump when it loads?

A zone in the page keeps its space free before the banner loads. Set a width with an aspect ratio, or a fixed height, for each device so the reserved space matches the banner.

Do scheduled banners work with page caching?

Yes. Start and end times are kept on pages served from a full-page cache.

What happens to my shortcodes if I turn the module off?

They print nothing. The ARN Banner widget, the zones and the automatic places stay empty until the module is turned on again, and the shortcode text never shows on the page.

Is Banners part of Vendix Free?

No. Banners is part of Vendix Pro and stays off until it is turned on in Smart Features.
